Kanpur: District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh issued stern directives against black marketing of domestic LPG cylinders and asked the officials to maintain strict vigilance on hoarding or black marketing of LPG. While reviewing the availability and supply system of petrol-diesel and domestic LPG in the district at a meeting held on Tuesday, the DM directed gas companies that the supply of cylinders should be done on a first in, first out basis. He clarified that domestic cylinders will be supplied at the consumers’ homes only, and the OTP system will remain mandatory. Consumers do not need to visit the gas agency to receive cylinders.
He appealed to the citizens not to pay attention to the rumours spreading about gas shortage. There is adequate availability of domestic LPG in the district, and consumers will not be allowed to face any kind of inconvenience.ADM (Civil Supply) Rajesh Kumar, district supply officer Rakesh Kumar Singh, and representatives of petroleum companies IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL were present at the meeting. The representatives of petroleum companies said adequate stock of domestic LPG cylinders was available in the district and the supply chain was completely normal. Currently, there are a total of 11,44,075 active LPG consumers in the district. They said that the supply of petrol and diesel at the 319 petrol pumps operational in the district was smooth and adequate stock of fuel was available. Hospitals and educational institutions will be supplied cylinders on priority as per commercial connections. Once the supply chain improves, cylinders will also be made available to all other commercial connection holders, said DM.
