Bhubaneswar: India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar, has issued yellow warning for thunderstorm, accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph, in some districts till April 8. Bhubaneswar on Friday received rain with thunderstorm for around 20 minutes in the afternoon, bringing relief from heat. The capital city recorded a maximum temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius and humidity between 61% and 75% on Friday.Similarly, Daringibadi in Kandhamal district received rainfall on Friday, while Nor’westers damaged houses and trees near Baripada in Mayurbhanj district.According to the IMD forecast, thunderstorm, accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (reaching up to 30-40kmph speed) is very likely at isolated places in the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri from 8.30am on April 4 to 8.30am on April 5.Similar condition will prevail over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada and Nayagarh in the next 24 hours.Thunderstorm, accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (reaching up to 40-50 kmph speed), is very likely at isolated places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam and Gajapati on April 6-7.Puri, Khurda, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh and Angul districts may get wind speed reaching up to 30-40kmph during this time. These districts will have similar weather conditions from April 7 to April 8 morning.Some places in the state will also receive light to moderate rain or thunderstorm between April 4 and April 8. Many places in Odisha will get rainfall on April 7, said the IMD sources.
