Bhubaneswar: The 2026-27 academic session for post-graduate (PG) courses will begin in July this year instead of end-Aug. The higher education department notified on Thursday that it has set a target to start PG classes in all universities and colleges across the state by July 10.
Officials said this will facilitate the timely completion of the academic curriculum, the conduct of examinations and the declaration of results, thereby benefiting students. Admission to different PG courses will be done through CPET, for which the common application forms (CAFs) will be made available on the website of the Students Academic Management System from Friday. Students can submit their CAFs until March 15.
The subject-wise entrance test will be conducted by the State Selection Board from April 27 and will continue until May 10. The department said admissions into PG courses will be made on the basis of marks secured in the CPET. To be eligible to appear in the CPET, a student must clear graduation or an equivalent examination from any university recognised by the UGC.
The department informed that the phase-1 PG admission process shall commence early. However, students admitted under phase-1 will have to submit their graduation or equivalent certificate to the institution concerned within two months of admission, failing which, if the final marks do not meet the eligibility criteria, their admission will be cancelled.
