Bhubaneswar: Iterating the state’s commitment to industrial growth and job creation, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said the Odisha govt would extend necessary support to promote industries, generate local employment and usher modern technologies.Majhi made the remarks after visiting two major industrial units in Khurda district — Trimetro Garments India Pvt Ltd, a unit of EPIC Group at Kalibeti, and Anadrone Systems, a defence and drone technology firm at Mundaamba.At the garment manufacturing facility, the chief minister interacted with employees and reviewed workplace processes and conditions. Workers expressed satisfaction over the availability of jobs within Odisha, saying industry-friendly policies have reduced the need to migrate out of Odisha for livelihood. They highlighted that such textile units are creating large-scale employment and strengthening the local economy.Majhi emphasised the need to develop ancillary infrastructure in industrial clusters and urged managements to prioritise skill development and local hiring. He also stressed ensuring safety and welfare of women workers, announcing plans for modern hostels and eco-friendly EV bus services for employees.“In the coming years, more industries will come up in this region, creating fresh employment opportunities and boosting the local economy,” Majhi said, adding that the govt is closely monitoring all projects to ensure timely execution.Trimetro Garments, part of the global EPIC Group, has begun production in India for the first time. The foundation stone for the unit was laid on April 3, 2025, and the project was completed in less than a year. Built at an investment of Rs 376 crore, the plant is expected to generate around 7,000 jobs, mostly for women. The unit manufactures garments for global fashion brand Uniqlo.Later, at Anadrone Systems, the chief minister held discussions with CEO Anant Bhalotia and lauded the company’s contribution to defence technology. He congratulated the team for achieving 100% success in drone deployment during Operation Sindoor and said such innovations strengthen national security.Majhi also reviewed advanced defence equipment being developed by the company, including aerial targets, launchers, ground support systems and control stations. He assured continued govt support for expansion of such high-tech industries in the state.
