Lucknow: Northern Railway’s Lucknow division has made its first insurance payout under the Railway Staff Protection (RSP) scheme by disbursing a sum of Rs 1 crore to Kamrun Nisha, mother and dependent of deceased railway employee Anwar Ali. Ali, a track maintainer in the engineering department at Varanasi, died in an accident while on duty on March 25 this year.The cheque was handed over to Nisha on Tuesday at the divisional railway manager’s office in Lucknow. “The payment was made under the RSP scheme, with all the necessary procedures completed promptly through the coordinated efforts of the personnel department and State Bank of India officials,” said senior divisional personnel officer Arima Bhatnagar.The scheme benefits dependents of railway employees whose salaries are credited to State Bank of India accounts. The scheme covers only accidental deaths occurring while on duty.
