Jaisalmer: North Western Railway’s Jodhpur Division has installed 447 CCTV cameras across eight major railway stations to strengthen passenger safety and surveillance, officials said. Jaisalmer Railway Station, redeveloped under the Amrit Station Scheme at a cost of about Rs 140 crore, has 219 CCTV cameras. The remaining 228 cameras have been installed at seven other major stations in the division. Divisional railway manager Anurag Tripathi said the cameras aim to provide a safe and secure travel environment, curb criminal and anti-social activities, and improve station management efficiency, transparency and accountability. Tripathi said surveillance covers stations, platforms, entry-exit gates, waiting rooms, ticket counters, foot overbridges and other key locations. Station-wise, the division has installed 59 cameras at Jodhpur, 36 at Pali Marwar, 31 at Raika Bagh Palace, 24 at Nagaur, 29 at Barmer, 32 at Bhagat Ki Kothi and 17 at Munabao, besides 219 at Jaisalmer.
