Noida: Noida and Greater Noida authorities have announced special measures to ensure an uninterrupted water supply on Wednesday, as demand is expected to rise during Holi celebrations.In Noida, water is usually supplied twice a day—from 6am to 9am and again from 6pm to 9pm. For Holi, an additional afternoon slot has been added between noon and 2pm. Authority’s general manager (water) RP Singh said the move was aimed at ensuring residents face no inconvenience during the festival.
The city’s average daily water requirement stands at about 320 million litres per day (MLD). On Holi, supply will be stepped up to around 420 MLD to account for higher usagelinked to playing with colours, washing clothes, cleaning homes and post-celebration bathing. Similar arrangements have been made in Greater Noida. On normal days, water is supplied from 7am to 9.30am and from 7pm to 9.30pm.
