Nagpur: Census-2027 preparations in Nagpur have hit a roadblock, with several enumerators and supervisors yet to join duty despite being appointed by the govt. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) said the issue persists across all 10 zones under its jurisdiction.According to officials, multiple schools, colleges, and govt as well as semi-govt and unaided institutions have either failed to relieve staff or have refused to accept appointment orders. Prominent institutions in Civil Lines, Telangkhedi, Sitabuldi and Seminary Hills have not submitted staff lists so far. The civic body also found discrepancies in data submitted by some institutions, with fewer employees being reported than actual strength.Taking serious note, the municipal commissioner has directed assistant commissioners of all 10 zones to initiate action against non-compliant institutions. The NMC has warned that the process of registering criminal cases against enumerators and supervisors failing to follow govt orders has already begun.Authorities have urged all institutions and department heads to immediately comply with directives and submit complete staff details, failing which legal action will be taken as per govt rules.
