Ghaziabad: Residents of GDA flats in Abhay Khand, Indirapuram, are facing multiple civic issues, including clogged sewers, deteriorating roads, encroached green belts, and contaminated water supply. The residents have been waiting for a service road in the area for the last 12 years, and an efficient security system too.The problems don’t end there. “The flats were allotted in the residential category in the registry. But several people are running commercial activities in the area,” Bhuwan Rawat, a resident of the area, told TOI.GDA flats are part of the larger Indirapuram Yojna developed by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) with numerous residential units. Abhay Khand is a popular residential area within Indirapuram, known for its 2 BHK apartments.According to Rawat, the sewer in the area is always clogged and overflows onto the roads. The water supply is insufficient, roads are broken, and green spaces are encroached, he said. “For the last 6 months, we have been getting extremely dirty and smelly water from the taps. While roads are broken, a service road has not been constructed in the last 12 years. When we raise complaints, we are often given false hopes that the work will be finished in 2 months,” Rawat said. Residents complain that the green belt in the area is encroached up by shopkeepers. “They cut down trees and plants that we had planted, and occupy the area to conduct businesses from there,” said another resident of the area.Apart from that, residents complain of lax security. “There is no security system in this residential area. Anyone can enter or leave the premises freely. Many times, people enter the houses directly, climb the roof and steal things like motors and pipes. This is a serious security lapse,” Rawat said.A response from GDA and GMC is awaited on the said matter.
