Dibrugarh: In a push to accelerate the commissioning of the remaining units of India’s largest hydroelectric power project, Sanjay Kumar Singh, the director (projects) of the NHPC Limited, on Wednesday paid a visit to the 2000MW Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project (SLHEP) on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border near Gerukamukh in Dhemaji district.Singh was received by Rajendra Prasad, the executive director and the head of project, Subansiri Lower Project, along with other senior officials of NHPC. During the day-long visit, the director undertook a detailed inspection of all ongoing civil and electro-mechanical works at the power house, with a particular focus on the preparedness for commissioning of Unit 1 and Unit 4. He also reviewed the progress of Units 5 to 8, which are currently in various stages of construction and installation.
The eight-unit project is scheduled to be fully operational in a phased manner, with full completion projected by May 2026, at a total estimated cost of around Rs 26,075 crore. Once fully commissioned, SLHEP will be India’s largest hydroelectric power station.
