Hazaribag: Arvind Kumar Rana, the newly elected mayor of Hazaribag, was sworn into office on Friday. Rana was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Manoj Kumar, the divisional commissioner of North Chotanagpur Commissionerate, at a formal ceremony at the collectorate building.The ward councillors, who were also sworn into their offices on Friday, elected Avinash Yadav as the deputy mayor. Yadav though was elected as ward councillor from ward no 36 unopposed, he was up against Mitali Rashmi for the deputy mayor’s post. While Yadav fetched 22 votes, Rashmi, who is the councillor for ward no 22, secured 13 votes. One councillor abstained from voting.Yadav was administered the oath of office by Rana after he received the winning certificate from the returning officer.Kumar, along with deputy commissioner Shashi Prakash Singh, congratulated the newly elected public representatives of Hazaribag Municipal Corporation. “Public representatives play a crucial role in urban development,” Kumar said.Several public representatives, officials and other dignitaries were present during the oath-taking ceremony and congratulated the newly elected deputy mayor. The mayor and deputy mayor promised to work for the development of the city.
