Vasco: Traffic movement at St Andrew’s church square, which is considered to be a major intersection point in the port town of Vasco, will soon be monitored by a traffic signal system.“As a preparatory step, the traffic cell authorities and govt officials concerned inspected the junction and also the installation of traffic signals along with me on Friday. I have issued the necessary directions to the traffic cell, as we are anticipating commissioning of the traffic signals in the course of the next few days,” Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar told TOI.The installation of traffic signals at St Andrew’s church square has been a long-standing demand of the locals, as the location is an accident-prone area.Salkar said, “Traffic signals were much needed at the major intersection point, as several people have lost their lives. The lives’ of students were also at risk.”He added that the installing signals will also help curb traffic violations, prevent accidents and monitor traffic movement in the area.
