Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Friday announced the formation of a new special police force for deployment at key installations, including the Vidhan Sabha, Raj Bhavan and airports, while replying to the debate on the Appropriation Bill in the Assembly.Sharma said the proposed force will provide security to VIP establishments as well as industrial units across the state. However, similar announcements in recent years have remained unfulfilled. In 2022, the previous Congress govt proposed the Rajasthan Industrial Security Force (RISF) to safeguard industrial units, but the plan did not materialise. In 2024, the present govt also announced the creation of a separate Security Police Force (SPF) for the Jaipur commissionerate to manage VIP security, but the force has yet to be fully established. The chief minister also proposed increasing the monthly mess allowance for police personnel from Rs 2,700 to Rs 2,850. To strengthen law and order, Sharma said the govt will provide 1,250 vehicles and deploy 2,500 personnel in a phased manner to police stations and patrolling units, integrating them with Dial 112/100 services. He further proposed increasing the number of Kalika Patrolling Units — tasked with preventing harassment of women in public places and addressing domestic violence and related crimes — from 500 to 600 in phases.
