Dibrugarh: The 9th Minling Khenchen Rinpoche laid the foundation stone for the Pemakoe Mindrolling Gonpa (monastery) on Tuesday at Tuting, a remote town close to the India-China border in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Travelling from Mindrolling Monastery in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, the Rinpoche’s entourage marked the occasion with a daylong religious ceremony, heralding a new era for spiritual and cultural life in the region.
The event drew local dignitaries despite challenging weather that grounded helicopters carrying CM Pema Khandu and deputy CM Chowa Mein in Pasighat who were scheduled to attend the event. Among those present were local MLA Alo Libang, Arunachal Pradesh food commission chairman Tarh Tarak, former ZPM Pema Lapchi, senior BJP leader Nima Sangey and ADC Tuting Pandav Perme.
