Rajkot: Union civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu will inaugurate new flight routes and passenger facilities during his visit to Bhavnagar and Rajkot airports on Sunday, in a push to strengthen regional connectivity and upgrade travel infrastructure.A direct flight service between Bhavnagar and Navi Mumbai will be launched, with the inaugural flight to be flagged off by the minister from Bhavnagar Airport. Airport Director Tapankumar Nayak said IndiGo will operate two daily flights on the route, scheduled in the morning and evening. The first flight is set to depart at 8.30 am on Sunday.Officials said the new air link is expected to boost Bhavnagar’s diamond industry, trade and tourism by improving connectivity with major urban centres.Alongside the launch, Bhavnagar Airport has been upgraded with new passenger amenities. The revamped terminal now features a passenger library and dedicated laptop workstations with personal desks. Facilities such as Wi-Fi connectivity and multiple mobile charging points have also been added to enhance passenger convenience.In Rajkot, the minister will virtually inaugurate the UDAN Yatri Cafe at Rajkot International Airport and roll out additional passenger facilities at regional airports across the country.These include the implementation of DigiYatra, Wi-Fi services, libraries, and dedicated play zones for children, aimed at improving the overall travel experience.
