Patna: A three-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Patna district late on Friday evening. The matter came to light when the victim’s mother reached the local police station around 9pm and filed a complaint against the 24-year-old neighbour.The incident occurred while the minor was playing outside the house. According to her mother, a youth from the village lured the child away and committed the crime. Upon hearing the girl’s cries, the family members rushed to the spot and alerted the police. Local police responded promptly upon receiving the complaint. A police team, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, arrived at the crime scene for investigation and collected evidence.
The prime accused, identified as Guddu Kumar (24), was arrested following a raid late on Friday night. A case was registered under Section 65 and Section 2 of the BNS Act, and Sections 4 and 6 of the (Pocso) Act.Police officer, Amarendra Kumar Jha, said following the FSL team’s assessment of the place, the main accused was arrested. “Upon receiving the information, we reached the site immediately, involved the FSL team for evidence gathering, and apprehended the accused through a prompt raid. All further legal actions are being pursued diligently.”The SDPO added: “The victim was admitted to the hospital for medical examination and treatment, where the medico-legal process is currently under way.”
