Kolkata: The office of governor RN Ravi said on social media on Thursday that there was a need to instil confidence among common people in view of the history of poll-related violence in the state. The post was made after the governor met BSF ADG Sumit Sharan.Sharan met the governor and briefed him on the situation along the India-Bangladesh border. He also communicated to Ravi how BSF jawans were being deployed for polls. Ravi, sources said, appreciated the role BSF was playing.Sources added ADG Sharan spoke to the governor about the need for heightened vigilance along the 2,217-km India-Bangladesh border and also briefed him on how BSF was working to prevent infiltration and smuggling.Ravi, a former IPS officer with a long stint in the IB, took stock of BSF deployment because of concerns over border security.
