New Delhi: Amid an ongoing LPG supply crunch, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced a waiver of road restoration charges for the laying of pipelines by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) to provide Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections across its jurisdiction for a period of three months.The council has also directed that permissions for road cutting related to IGL’s pipeline work be granted within 24 hours of receiving a complete application. Officials have been instructed to ensure the immediate commencement of work to eliminate procedural delays and improve inter-departmental coordination.“In the larger public interest, NDMC has issued this circular to facilitate the speedy expansion of PNG connections by IGL. The decision aims to ensure expeditious execution of pipeline works so that residents and establishments can receive PNG connections without unnecessary delay,” the council said in a circular issued on Friday.Officials said the move is expected to promote the use of cleaner and more convenient fuel while accelerating infrastructure development.IGL has been directed to prioritise the work by deploying adequate manpower and resources, and to ensure that all excavated stretches are properly filled in and secured promptly to avoid inconvenience to the public. NDMC’s road divisions have also been instructed to restore affected road stretches within a fixed timeframe.“All concerned officials have been directed to ensure strict compliance with these instructions,” officials said.
