Gorakhpur: Former UP cabinet minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui on Saturday attacked BJP govt, alleging “every section of society is distressed” and that the administration had failed to uphold its “zero-tolerance” policy.Responding to a remark by Om Prakash Rajbhar, who described him as a “spent force (dagaa hua kartoos)”, Siddiqui said he knew Rajbhar well from their time together in the BSP.Addressing a PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) meeting during Holi–Eid Milan programmes held in Maharajganj and Gorakhpur, Siddiqui claimed incidents of atrocities against Dalit girls had increased and sense of insecurity was prevailing in the state.The event was presided over by former assembly speaker Ganesh Shankar Pandey, who emphasised need for unity among PDA communities. As the chief guest, Siddiqui intensified his criticism, alleging that BJP regime has become “synonymous with injustice and oppression.”Invoking B R Ambedkar, he said the Constitution guarantees dignity and rights for the deprived, including Dalits, backward classes, minorities and women.Siddiqui further asserted that SP, under leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, is “fighting strongly to protect the Constitution and democracy.”Former MLA Kunwar Kaushal Singh claimed SP always safeguarded interests of all sections, farmers, youth and students who are being neglected under present govt.
