Jalandhar: In a fresh video statement, slain social media influencer Nancy Grewal’s mother Shinderpal Kaur has retracted her earlier allegations against some individuals after her daughter’s murder in Canada. She said she had uttered these names in a state of utter shock and sadness.“I am in a state of shock. My daughter died, I can’t bear it, I’m going crazy. I don’t know what to do or what not to do. I don’t know what I said when I was being questioned. As people called me up to take names (of those I think were responsible), I spelt out those names.Whatever has to be done is to be done by the police.I apologise with folded hands if I mentioned any names. I have no animosity with anyone. My child is gone and won’t come back. We are ruined. I apologise again; my mind is still not in the right state,” Shinderpal said in the video, which was uploaded on the Nancy Grewal FC Facebook page, where all her stuff was posted earlier as well. In her earlier statements to the media, Shinderpal alleged that three persons could be involved in her daughter’s murder and even named them.Nancy was stabbed to death on the night (Canadian time) of March 3 in LaSalle in Ontario, Canada, when she had stepped out of a client’s house after nursing a woman. Her mother said two assailants pounced on her and stabbed her repeatedly. Shinderpal Kaur, who lives in Jalandhar, alleged that three persons could be involved in her murder and even named them.Meanwhile, the LaSalle police has not come out with a statement about the investigation. It earlier said it was not a random act of violence, but a targeted crime.Nancy, living in Windsor, regularly spoke on different issues, often using acrimonious language. She also spoke against Khalistanis. In recent weeks, she had posted videos against Radha Soami Satsang Beas chief Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon after he called on Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia in Nabha jail a few weeks back. Some time ago Nancy also spoke against the Akal Takht jathedar.Meanwhile, Canada-based Hindu groups have blamed the Khalistanis for her murder and also ran a social media campaign on the issue. However, separatist group Sikhs For Justice general counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun had issued a statement alleging that attempts by the Indian media to immediately label the killing as “Khalistan extremism” were a disinformation narrative was aimed at criminalising the ongoing peaceful political movement of the Khalistan Referendum.“The Khalistan movement answers dissenting political opinion through votes — not violence. Critics of Khalistan are not targeted; … Khalistan is a political opinion. Critics of Khalistan face a referendum — not death,” he had said.
