Biharsharif: Anticipating an increase in LPG demand during weddings and social functions after the end of the ‘kharmas’ period, the Nalanda district administration has put in place arrangements to ensure the smooth supply of commercial LPG cylinders for matrimonial and other large events.Nalanda district magistrate (DM) Kundan Kumar, in a press statement, said caterers and cooks hired for wedding functions will be required to register for commercial LPG connections, which oil companies have been directed to process within the next five to seven days.“Alternatively, the host of a wedding can also apply to the concerned subdivisional officer for commercial LPG supply by submitting a copy of the wedding card, clearly mentioning the number of cylinders required and the estimated number of guests,” the DM said, adding the commercial cylinders issued under this arrangement must be used strictly for the specified matrimonial event.Amid reports of panic booking, the district administrations of Nalanda on Saturday dismissed concerns over any shortage of domestic LPG cylinders, asserting that supplies remain adequate and the situation is being closely monitored.According to a public relations department (PRD) release, Nalanda DM termed reports of scarcity as “baseless and misleading,” stating that sufficient LPG stock is available and distribution is proceeding smoothly across the district. “The supply chain is fully functional and there is no cause for concern. People should rely only on verified information,” the DM said, adding that the situation is reviewed daily. Residents are advised not to resort to panic booking or hoarding, with officials warning that such practices could create artificial shortages.Meanwhile, Sheikhpura DM Shekhar Anand also said the LPG supply situation in the district has normalised after some pressure earlier. As per the PRD release, more than 2,100 LPG cylinders are currently available in stock and regular distribution has resumed.Both administrations said enforcement has been stepped up to check black marketing or diversion of cylinders. Control rooms have also been activated to address public grievances and ensure uninterrupted supply. “The supply position is stable and adequate stock is available. Strict monitoring is in place to prevent any irregularities,” an official statement said.
