Nagpur: Wardha will soon be added as a station in the journey route of the Duronto Express plying between Nagpur and Mumbai. The Ministry of Railways approved a stoppage for the 12289/12290 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj-Nagpur Duronto Express at Wardha on an experimental basis. The decision follows long-pending demands from various passenger organisations seeking better connectivity for the region. The approval, issued by the Railway Board, states that the halt will be implemented from an “early convenient date”. Wardha, being a key junction in Vidarbha, is expected to benefit from improved access to the premium Mumbai-Nagpur service.Passenger groups welcomed the move, noting that Duronto’s halt will save time and provide a faster travel option compared with existing trains.Apart from the Duronto Express, stoppages were also approved for Lokmanya Tilak-Balharshah Express at Shegaon, and multiple trains, including Yesvantpur-Hazrat Nizamuddin Sampark Kranti Express, Yesvantpur-Chandigarh Express, and Pune-Nagpur Express, at Uruli near Pune.
