Mysuru: Ahead of the nationwide Census 2027, Mysuru DC Lakshmikanth G Reddy has called upon residents to actively participate in the self-enumeration facility introduced by the govt. The initiative enables citizens to submit their household details online through a secure web portal, making the census process faster and more convenient.According to the district administration, the house-listing and housing census operations in Mysuru district will officially commence from April 16. Before this, the govt has opened a 15-day window for voluntary self-enumeration from April 1 to 15, allowing citizens to provide their details digitally before enumerators begin their door-to-door visits. Residents who wish to take advantage of this facility can log in to the official portal se.census.gov.in and complete the online questionnaire. The self-enumeration process requires citizens to answer 33 questions relating to house-listing and housing information, including details about the household structure, amenities and other relevant demographic data. After the successful submission of the information, the system will generate a unique reference ID, which will be sent to the respondent via SMS and email through the portal. This reference ID will serve as confirmation that the household details have already been submitted online. When census enumerators visit homes during the field survey beginning April 16, residents who have completed the self-enumeration can simply provide this reference ID, enabling the officials to quickly verify the information and complete the process without repeating the questionnaire. However, officials clarified that if the reference ID is not produced during the enumerator’s visit, the official will have to conduct the full interview again, asking all the required questions from the beginning to ensure the data is properly recorded. In his statement, the DC emphasised that the self-enumeration option is designed to save time, improve efficiency and reduce delays during the census operation. He urged citizens across Mysuru district to make maximum use of the online facility and actively cooperate with the administration to ensure the smooth conduct of the census.
