Mysuru: Mysuru city police solved 104 property offence cases in the last six months and recovered valuables and cash worth Rs 2.9 crore from 82 arrested accused. Wednesday, the property was returned to its owners during a property parade at the commissioner of police office.Commissioner of police Seema Latkar, who appreciated police officers and presented certificates, detailed three notable cases solved after examining evidence, including one involving an accused from Andhra Pradesh.She said National Intelligence Grid, a centralised database of listed criminals, helped city police crack three thefts reported in Kuvempu Nagar by arresting Venkata Reddy. He allegedly used digital maps to locate isolated houses in upscale areas and targeted them at night. He allegedly used crowbars to break into three palatial houses but managed to steal only a paltry sum. CCTV footage showing a man holding a crowbar helped police identify and arrest him, she said.In another case, Vidyaranyapuram police arrested Kiran, an ITI college staffer, who lifted valuables from a neighbour’s house. A message from a finance firm about pledged gold helped alert police. He was allegedly deeply in debt and cleared a Rs 30 lakh loan he had taken by turning to crime. He borrowed money to lead a lavish lifestyle and ended up in jail, the IPS officer said.Saraswathipuram police, led by inspector G Purushotham, solved nine house break-ins by arresting Syed Alim, a former autorickshaw driver who allegedly turned to crime. About 69 theft cases are pending against him, including nearly 49 in the city. He was out on bail but allegedly continued his crimes and was arrested again, police said.Rani, a car owner, thanked the city police for tracing her stolen car within two days. She said CCTV footage helped Vijayanagar police, led by inspector Suresh Kumar SD, quickly track down the thief. Mandi police, led by inspector Diwakar, also solved an extortion case in which a Bengaluru resident was robbed of valuables and a car worth Rs 10 lakh.BOX** 16 accused in NDPS cases and 1 involved in goonda activity were banished from Mysuru city since 2025.** About 30kg ganja and 311mg ynthetic drugs were seized in 22 NDPS cases in 2026. Udayagiri police alone seized 24kg of ganja from accused Varun.** 2kg gold, 5kg silver, and Rs 10 lakh cash were recovered from 82 arrested accused in 105 cases in the last 6 months.** 4 extortion cases, 2 chain-snatching cases, 3 thefts by servants, 57 vehicle thefts, and 1 robbery case were solved, along with 79 property thefts, in the last 6 months.
