Kolkata: In an unusual turn of events, special electoral roll observer (SERO) C Murugan has seemingly responded to Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra‘s ‘Quick Gun Murugun’ dig at him, saying he does have training to handle different kinds of firearms and have used them effectively as a cop.The war of words started with Moitra’s Feb 18 post on X. Moitra had posted the poster of a 2009 film titled ‘Quick Gun Murugun: Misadventures of an Indian Cowboy’, and while addressing the Election Commission, had written: “Dear ECI, please control your roll observer C Murugan, IAS 2007, deputy chairperson Tea Board, who is issuing incorrect directions on secret Whatsapp groups to micro-observers in violation of Supreme Court orders.“On Wednesday, Murugan responded on Facebook by attaching Moitra’s post, saying, “Disclaimer: I do not have as many guns as depicted in the picture. However, I was trained to handle different types of guns and legally and effectively used them during my four and a half years of police service in Tamil Nadu.”Moitra’s post was written shortly after TMC delegates lodged a complaint with the office of the CEO Manoj Agarwal on Feb 18 after TMC national general secretary Abhshiek Banerjee accused the EC of officers like Murugan instructing micro-observers over WhatsApp to delete names of voters from list.
