Guwahati: Multiple FIRs have been registered against senior Congress leader Pawan Khera for allegedly attempting to contact militant groups in the state to influence election results, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday.“There are three to four cases already registered against Pawan Khera for trying to contact some militant organisations in Assam to influence election results,” Sarma told reporters, adding that investigation is ongoing.“So, you will know after the election who will end up in jail. I think that Pawan Khera’s final address will be in Assam jail,” he said.
The allegation came a day after Khera had launched a sharp attack on the CM, alleging corruption and predicting that Sarma would be “behind bars within weeks” after the assembly results.Khera accused BJP of working only for its own interests and claimed that ministers, including the CM, prioritised family interests above governance.“No one can save Himanta Biswa Sarma after the elections, not even his masters sitting in Delhi,” Khera had said, expressing confidence that under Gaurav Gogoi’s leadership, the Congress and its allies would form the next govt and establish a “new Assam model.”The Assam assembly elections for 126 constituencies are scheduled for Apr.
