Ahmedabad: A multi-agency disaster management drill was conducted at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) on Wednesday to assess preparedness and coordination during natural calamities.Organised by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in coordination with the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the drill was based on a multi-hazard scenario simulating an earthquake and its cascading impacts. The exercise evaluated response mechanisms, implementation of the Incident Response System (IRS), communication protocols and resource mobilisation.Officials from central and state govt departments, along with teams from NDRF, SDRF, police and fire services, participated in the drill. Authorities said the exercise helped identify gaps, strengthen inter-agency coordination and reinforced readiness to safeguard lives and critical infrastructure during emergencies.
