Mysuru: MP Yaduveer KC Wadiyar submitted a request to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, seeking the inclusion of Mysuru in the proposed Urban Economic Zone scheme.During a meeting with the finance minister in New Delhi, MP Yaduveer submitted a memorandum in this regard. He said Mysuru, widely recognised as the cultural capital, enjoys global recognition and should be included in the scheme to further elevate its development and infrastructure.Sharing details about the meeting, Yaduveer Wadiyar said the finance minister assured him that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.He noted that if Mysuru is included in the scheme, it would create opportunities to undertake a wide range of developmental works. The MP also emphasised that Mysuru already possesses a rich heritage and natural environment. Development initiatives will be planned carefully without disturbing the city’s cultural and ecological character.Yaduveer said that meetings will be held with experts, leaders, representatives from various sectors, and the public to gather suggestions and opinions before preparing a comprehensive development plan for Mysuru.He added that the Union govt is focusing on infrastructure development in tier-2 and tier-3 cities with populations exceeding five lakhs, as well as important pilgrimage centres. Since the request for Mysuru’s inclusion was made several times, the finance minister assured that the city would be considered under the scheme.
