Mangaluru: HYDGEN, a Mangaluru-based hydrogen technology company, flagged off eight modular industrial hydrogen generation skids from its facility at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management on Saturday.Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta said that the design, manufacture, and commercial deployment of modular electrolyser systems at industrial scale is a manifestation of multiple aspirations, including the ‘Make In India‘ call given by the Prime Minister and his ‘Back to Ooru’ campaign. He said the initiative must inspire Mangalureans across the world to come back to ‘Ooru’ and be a part of the region’s development.Manipaddy Krishna Kumar, COO, HYDGEN, said that the modular industrial hydrogen generation skids manufactured locally in Mangaluru represent a first-of-its-kind technology platform in India. He said that this achievement aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and supports India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), while also embodying the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Local for Global’ initiatives. On the despatch of eight Industrial Hydrogen Systems, he said each skid is a fully integrated, on-site hydrogen generation system engineered and assembled in Mangaluru using HYDGEN’s proprietary PEM (proton exchange membrane) electrolyser technology, developed at a level of engineering maturity that remains rare among Indian deep-tech companies in the hydrogen space.“The systems are designed for industries that require continuous, high-purity hydrogen on-site and on-demand, eliminating dependence on cylinder logistics, reducing operational costs, and delivering the supply reliability that modern industrial processes demand. Unlike traditional supply models that rely on centralised production and physical transportation, HYDGEN’s modular architecture allows hydrogen to be generated precisely where and when it is needed,” he said.HYDGEN CTO Goutham Dalapati was present.Blending of hydrogen with LPGDemonstrating the blending of hydrogen with LPG, Krishna Kumar explained that the blended fuel will ensure 30.8% improvement in the heating performance while cooking.“While it takes 4 minutes 20 seconds to boil 500ml of water using an LPG stove, a blend of 10% Hydrogen and 90% LPG will take only three minutes to do so. The hydrogen-blended LPG stove can be a solution to the current LPG crisis in the world too,” he added.
