Rajkot: A 29-year-old woman died after allegedly consuming poison along with her three-year-old son in Sardharka village of Wankaner taluka, Morbi district, on Saturday. The woman, identified as Sukhu alias Bhavu Dabhi, was declared dead at Morbi Civil Hospital, while her son remains under medical care.Following the incident, Sukhu’s father, Rasa Dabhi, lodged a complaint against her live-in partner, Ramesh Dharjiya, at Wankaner taluka police station. In his complaint, he alleged that Sukhu had been facing continuous harassment and mental torture at the hands of Dharjiya.As per the complaint, Sukhu was previously married to Viram Sarvaiya in 2017, but the marriage ended within a year and a half. After returning to her parental home, she went missing in August 2021. A police investigation later revealed that she had eloped with Dharjiya.The matter eventually reached the Gujarat high court, where Sukhu expressed her wish to live with Dharjiya. Since then, the couple had been living together as husband and wife in Sardharka village, working as agricultural labourers.Rasa Dabhi further alleged that Sukhu had complained of being harassed by Dharjiya, who also restricted her from visiting her family. He claimed that two years ago, Sukhu had attempted suicide due to similar abuse but had survived.Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
