Hyderabad: Special Investigation Team (SIT) officers have interrogated the three accused in the Moinabad farmhouse drug case for around nine hours regarding various aspects of the case. According to police officials, the accused’s responses were largely evasive. The SIT took the three accused — former BRS MLA P Rohit Reddy, his brother P Ritesh Reddy, and their associate Namit Sharma, a businessman from Delhi — into custody from Chanchalguda prison. They were taken to Shamshabad police station for questioning at around 7:30 am. Members of the SIT, divided into three teams, questioned the trio separately from 9 am onwards. The questioning was also attended by Chevella and Shadnagar DCPs Yogesh Gautam and Ch Sirisha. The questioning was also directly supervised by Future City police commissioner G Sudheer Babu.“All three of the accused tested positive for cocaine consumption and Namit Sharma tested positive for cocaine, amphetamine and methamphetamine (suspected to be MDMA). We asked them about the source of the drugs. We confronted them with evidence obtained from the other accused, Koushik Ravi and Sharat Kumar, which clearly indicates that the narcotics were obtained from local dealers. The trio claimed not to know who had brought the narcotic substances to the farmhouse,” said an investigator.Regarding the shooting, Namit Sharma reportedly told the police that he had opened fire with Ritesh Reddy’s licensed pistol, suspecting that they were under attack by unknown men in civilian clothing who had suddenly entered the farmhouse.Police said that the accused claimed not to know any local dealers, including Abhishek Singh of the Rajendranagar area, who is suspected of supplying cocaine. “We will question them further within the next two days,” said the police.Abhishek’s father files missing complaintWhile the SIT has launched a manhunt to arrest Abhishek Singh, 24, and other suspects who were suspected to have supplied the drugs, Abhishek’s father lodged a missing person complaint with the Rajendranagar police on March 19. In his complaint, father told police that Abhishek left home between 3:30 am and 4:00 am on March 17.“Due to his work as an interior designer, Abhishek frequently visits work sites. It is common for him to occasionally switch his phone off while working. Usually, after returning home, he switches it back on. This time, however, we waited for two days and his phones remained off,” Abhishek’s father alleged in his complaint.Police confirmed that both of Abhishek’s phones had been switched off ever since. Abhishek’s father also mentioned that his son had been suffering from health issues for four years and had been taking medication. “Our teams are still looking for Abhishek and the other suspects,” said an investigator.
