Hyderabad: Moinabad police have registered an attempt to murder case against businessman Namith Sharma for firing in the air at BRS former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy’s farmhouse on Saturday night. Investigators have found that Sharma came to the farmhouse along with TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar Yadav.Officials said that Sharma was originally from Jaipur, but moved to Delhi. How he became friends with Mahesh is still being investigated. The other accused, Kaushik Ravi, allegedly brought the drug to the farmhouse from an acquaintance from Shimla. “Further probe needs to be done to know from whom and how the drug was sourced,” EAGLE officials said. Though there were reports that Sharma is a politician, the Moinabad police clarified that he is a businessman, but they do not have first-hand information about his political affiliation in Rajasthan.Police were contemplating to seal the farmhouse by writing a letter to local revenue authorities, since the owner of the property, Rohith Reddy, allegedly allowed his premises to be misused. The farmhouse was in the spotlight in 2022 too when the then BRS govt claimed to have busted a plot by trapping three persons who reportedly attempted to lure four BRS MLAs, including Rohit Reddy. The drug abusers, including Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, would have to attend a de-addiction programme. “The common link among most of the 11 participants who partied at the farmhouse is that they are in the real estate business,” a source saidAfter busting the case, EAGLE sleuths handed it over to the Moinabad police, who would do further investigation. The huge stock of alcohol seized from the farmhouse showed that liquor was brought without taking excise department permission.
