Patna: A new mini stadium (sports facility), developed with MPLAD funds of Rajya Sabha member Akhilesh Prasad Singh, was formally inaugurated at Anugrah Narayan College, Patna. The inauguration was performed remotely by Singh through the unveiling of a plaque. The ceremony was held in the college’s Satyendra Narayan Sinha Auditorium and began with lamp lighting, the college song and a welcome song.Principal Rekha Rani welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of sports for students’ physical and mental health as well as their overall development. In his address, the chief guest, Singh, expressed his emotional attachment to the college and announced an additional Rs 60 lakh from his MPLAD funds for further development of the institution. He assured continued support for the college’s growth. The programme was presided over by Upendra Prasad Singh, vice-chancellor of Patliputra University, while Shashi Pratap Shahi, vice-chancellor of Magadh University, attended as special guest and praised the college’s long-standing tradition of academic excellence.Faculty development programme: A six-day faculty development programme on “Recent trends in research and academic discourse” concluded at B D College, Patna. Scholars, including Chandan Srivastava and D N Verma, addressed sessions, while chief guest Abu Bakar Rizvi, registrar of Patliputra University (PPU), highlighted the link between literature and history and praised principal Ratna Amrit’s leadership. The event also saw the release of a book, ‘Veer Kunwar Singh: The Warrior of Independence’. The FDP enriched academic dialogue, instilled confidence among participants and strengthened institutional research culture, the principal said.
