Mysuru: Stressing the urgent need to address increasing traffic congestion in the city, Mysuru district in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa on Monday directed officials to immediately take up road-widening projects.He was speaking at a review meeting, at the ZP mini hall to assess the progress of road-widening works under the zonal offices 7 and 9. The minister underlined that systematic infrastructure development is essential to maintain smooth vehicular movement and support Mysuru’s growth. He instructed the departments concerned to expedite the process of obtaining NOCs by formally corresponding with relevant authorities regarding land requirements. In cases involving private land, he advised officials to proceed with acquisition through the issuance of transferable development rights (TDR), strictly in accordance with the existing rules and regulations.Providing details of the proposed projects, MCC commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif stated that several major stretches were identified for widening. These include the govt guest house to Kalikamba temple; the Bengaluru–Nilgiri road from Dr BR Ambedkar circle to Fountain circle, and from Five Light circle towards the Suburban bus stand; Male Mahadeshwara road from Gopala Gowda hospital Circle to Buddha Circle; Chamundi Vihar Stadium road from SP office Circle to Gopala Gowda hospital Circle; Pulakeshi Road from Dr BR Ambedkar circle to Ashoka Road; Hyder Ali Road from Dr BR Ambedkar circle to Aziz Sait Double Road; and Dr Rajkumar Road.The meeting was attended by Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait, DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy, ZP CEO S Yukesh Kumar, KPA director N Vishnuvardhan, and senior officials from various departments, who reviewed timelines and assured coordinated action to ensure early execution of the projects.
