A spiritually uplifting ceremony marked the 60th birthday of renowned folk singer Malini Awasthi, alongside the third birthday of her grandchildren, Ram and Ahilya, who share their birth date with their grandmother.

Set against a serene backdrop adorned with flowers and diyas, the festivities commenced with traditional Vedic rituals and prayers. The occasion drew members of the political and cultural fraternity, along with prominent personalities from the city. Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh; Anandiben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh; and Satish Mahana, Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha, were among those present to mark the milestone.

The ceremony began on a devotional note, with Malini Awasthi rendering a soulful recital, accompanied by her daughter Ananya Awasthi, adding a deeply personal touch to the gathering. Family members, including son Aditya Awasthi, Gayatri Mishra and son-in-law Keshav Malhotra, also joined the celebrations.

This was followed by the screening of a short documentary film, directed by Yatindra Mishra, chronicling the singer’s remarkable musical journey. The film featured a recorded message from veteran actress Hema Malini, who conveyed her heartfelt wishes, saying, “May you continue to mesmerise all of us with your voice.”Reflecting on the occasion, Malini Awasthi said, “I had always wished to mark my 60th birthday with a spiritual ceremony.
