When 12-year-old Meghan Markle was given an assignment to write a poem about her life, she wrote:“Two houses, two homes. Two kitchens, two phones. Two couches where I lay, two places that I stay.Moving, moving, here and there. From Monday to Friday, I’m everywhere.Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that bad. But oftentimes it makes me sad.I want to live that nuclear life with a happy dad and his loving wife.A picket fence, a shaggy dog. A fireplace with a burning log.But it’s not real, it’s just a dream. I cannot cry or even scream. So here I sit with cat number three, life would be easy if there were two of me.”
Little Meghan, a child of divorce, longed for a place to belong – a home in both the literal and the emotional sense. 24 years later, she found her home in Prince Harry, and together they built her dream abode on the California coast. After all, home is where the heart is!
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s 14.65 million dollar Montecito mansion
Far from the eagle eyes of the paparazzi and royal titles, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have built their dream home in one of California’s most exclusive communities, known for its privacy, natural beauty, and, of course, celebrity residents! They reside in the luxurious estate in Montecito, which they bought for 14.65 million dollars, in 2020, as per The Cut. The Montecito mansion is their ‘haven’, and their life looks straight out of a fairytale, just as it was in the Netflix series, ‘With Love, Meghan’. But, no, the show wasn’t filmed at their actual home. The estate is their sanctuary, and Meghan chose to film their series in a rental that echoed their home. ‘I wanted to protect that safe haven. We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments — putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day. Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family, and with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!” she told People earlier.
The mansion features 9 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle live with their children, Archie and Lilibet, in a 14,500 square feet home that sits on the 7 acres estate. Originally built in 2003, the home reportedly has 9 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms. The home features high ceilings, stone fireplaces, and a rustic chef’s kitchen. Among the amenities are a swimming pool, tennis court, home theater, and spa. Despite its considerable size and nature, the home is still cozy, as per Meghan. “My office is right by the kitchen, and I love that I can work from home. It’s a great luxury. Lilibet comes and sits on my lap when I’m in the middle of the meeting, whether it’s about P and L for my brand or it’s about something creative,” Meghan Markle told Harper’s Bazaar earlier.
A sage garden
The Montecito mansion also has a breathtakingly beautiful garden with sage plants, which she uses for her As Ever sage-infused honey preparation. “Those strolls (through the garden), with Archie and Lili running in tow, her husband checking on the bees, (dogs) Pula chasing the ball with Mia trying to keep up—those were the sun-drenched moments that made an everyday walk something a bit more magical. And that sage, that purple, that scent around the garden, was always there in the background,” the newsletter via Realtor.com reveals.Beyond the grandeur, for Meghan Markle, the Montecito mansion is the home she always longed for. Her typical day starts around 6 am, and one of the best things about the home is that they always try to have meals together. “I’m up before my kids are, so I’m normally up at 6:30, and then I get them up and dressed for the day, and we go downstairs. I love making breakfast for my family,” she told People. The elite town has been home to many A-listers, Oprah Winfrey, Ariana Grande, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Tom Cruise, among others. But for Meghan and Harry, the Montecito mansion in California is more than an address; it is their haven, where only family matters, not fame.
