Gurgaon: A helper posted with Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) was arrested on Tuesday by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SVB-ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a resident, in exchange for not halting construction work at his house.Kapil, a resident of Palra village in Badshahpur, was caught red-handed by the bureau outside the MCG office.An officer said the complainant approached the SVB-ACB alleging Kapil demanded Rs 50,000 to allow construction work to continue without interference. After negotiations, the amount was settled at Rs 40,000.The bureau constituted a team and planned a trap. The complainant was sent to meet the accused with the agreed bribe amount. As soon as Kapil accepted the cash, the vigilance team moved in and apprehended him on the spot. The entire amount of Rs 40,000 was recovered. A case was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 308(2) (extortion) of the BNS. tnn
