Chennai: The static surveillance team seized 80,000 in cash transported without valid documents in Radhakrishnan Nagar Assembly constituency on Sunday and deposited the amount in the treasury.In view of the model code of conduct in Chennai, three flying squad and static surveillance teams each have been constituted per assembly constituency. These teams function in three shifts and continuously monitor election-related violations.In view of the upcoming polls, goods valued over 10,000 and cash exceeding 50,000 being transported without proper documentation will be seized and deposited in the govt treasury. If valid documents are submitted to the appellate authority during inquiry, the seized items will be returned to the rightful person, a release said.
