Mumbai: A 46-year-old man was arrested by MIDC police for the brutal murder of his wife on a street at Andheri East on Saturday as she was not willing to live with him. Rajesh Chhatre, the accused, worked as an autorickshaw driver.The incident occurred on Sag Baug Road at Marol around 4.30pm. Police said Chhatre grabbed his wife by the hand and threatened her that he wouldn’t spare her life. He then pulled out a knife that he had brought along and repeatedly stabbed her to death.
After an FIR was registered late at night, Chhatre was arrested on charges of murder. Police said he lives in Powai. The crime appears to be premeditated as he had brought the knife along, police said and have recovered a sample of Panchbheela’s bloodstained clothing for evidence. They have also recovered Chhatre’s clothing for collecting evidence.
