Patna: A 26-year-old man brutally stabbed his maternal uncle to death in broad daylight near the Bengali Colony turn in Patna City on Thursday morning. The victim, Mohammad Raees (62), a tailor from Bakshi Maidan, was attacked by his nephew, Mohammad Ayaz, who slit his neck and stabbed him multiple times before walking away calmly, as captured in CCTV footage. The accused was arrested within two hours of the incident, and the police have recovered the murder weapon from his possession.According to police, the incident occurred around 10.45am when Raees was walking towards his shop at Vivekananda Colony under the Chowk police station area. CCTV footage shows the two walking together for barely 17 steps before Ayaz suddenly drew a sharp knife and struck Raees in the neck.As the victim collapsed near a roadside pole, several people passed by, but no one intervened to stop the attacker or help the dying man. After the murder, Ayaz was seen casually adjusting his hair, wiping the blood off the knife, and walking away as onlookers watched.Police from Chowk station reached the spot soon after receiving a call around 11am about a body lying on the road. The area was cordoned off, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called in, and the body was sent to NMCH-Patna for post-mortem.Confirming the incident, Patna City SDPO II, Gaurav Kumar, said, “During interrogation, Ayaz confessed to the crime, claiming it stemmed from an old family dispute. He alleged that his wife was harassed and tortured by her maternal uncle’s family, and he committed the murder in revenge.”
