New Delhi: A 32-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death and another critically injured during a robbery attempt near a petrol pump in sector 23, Rohini, on Feb 16. Police have arrested two men in connection with the case. Investigators said a PCR call was received at Begumpur police station around 6.56pm about a man lying unconscious with stab injuries on the ground near the petrol pump. A team reached the spot and took him to hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The deceased was identified as Amarnath Yadav, who worked at a jeans factory. An eyewitness, Sri Ram Yadav — who also suffered knife injuries — told police that the men robbed their mobile phones before fleeing. A case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered. During the investigation, the crime and forensic teams inspected the area and collected evidence. Police carried out local inquiries and examined technical surveillance. Investigators learnt that two men were spotted on a grey scooter near the spot around the time of the incident. Additional CP (Rohini) Rajeev Ranjan said: “On Feb 19, Rohit (29), a resident of Mange Ram Park, sector 23, was arrested. During questioning, he disclosed the involvement of his associate, Durgesh (23), who was subsequently nabbed. Both are residents of Rohini and have previous involvement in multiple cases of theft, snatching and robbery.” Police said the accused had planned to commit robbery and stabbed Amarnath when he resisted. The knife used in the crime, the stolen mobile phones, the grey scooter and blood-stained clothes allegedly worn during the attack were recovered.
