Noida: A 23-year-old man accused of shooting a 48-year-old man from his own village in the Dankaur area was arrested following a police encounter on Tuesday, police said. The accused sustained a bullet injury during retaliatory firing by the police and was later admitted to a hospital.Police said the incident occurred on April 6 when Qasim (48) was shot while working on his farm in Atta Fatehpur village. He was sitting near a tubewell with some villagers when the accused, identified as Qaide Asam, allegedly arrived and began abusing him.During the altercation, the accused allegedly fired at Qasim using a country-made pistol and fled the scene.Qasim was taken to a nearby hospital and is out of danger. Based on a complaint by his son, a case was registered under sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of BNS at Dankaur police station, and multiple police teams were formed to arrest the accused.On Tuesday, while checking near the Khajur Wale Baba underpass, police spotted a suspect matching the description. When signalled to stop, he allegedly tried to flee and opened fire at the officers. The team retaliated, injuring him and arresting him at the spot.Police said a country-made pistol, one spent and one live cartridge were seized from his possession. A motorcycle without a number plate, allegedly used by the accused, was also seized.An officer said the accused is undergoing treatment and remains in police custody.
