Gurgaon: A 25-year-old man, accused in a mobile-snatching case, escaped from a police station while being brought back from a city court on a day’s remand.A manhunt has been launched to trace Ravi, a resident of Shanti Colony in Delhi’s Mandi village. Ravi was arrested along with a resident of Bheem Basti, Aditya, in connection with a case registered on Feb 25.Police said both accused were produced before the court. After the proceedings, when they were brought back to Sector 29 police station, Ravi allegedly pushed a police personnel inside the premises and fled. Police immediately lodged Aditya in the lock-up.Based on a complaint filed by head constable Pradeep Kumar, a fresh FIR was registered under Section 265 (resistance or obstruction to lawful apprehension) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit. Police said Ravi and Aditya were involved in multiple mobile-snatching incidents. “They would travel from Delhi to Gurgaon on a motorcycle, target pedestrians or commuters, snatch mobile phones and flee to Delhi,” an officer said.Investigators said the duo was arrested in one such case earlier this week and were being interrogated to ascertain their involvement in other incidents. Officers said that departmental action may be taken if any lapses are found on part of authorities.In Dec last year, another accused had tried to escape from the clutches of police in Civil Hospital in Sector 10. He was nabbed.
