Gurgaon: A 29-year-old man died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Delhi-Jaipur highway near Rajiv Chowk on Thursday night, around 10.30pm.The victim, Vinod Kumar Das, from Samastipur district in Bihar, had come to the city in search of work. His phone went unreachable later in the night, after which his family members began searching for him.On Friday afternoon, police from Shivaji Nagar police station contacted the victim’s family after finding a damaged mobile phone and a slip of paper containing a phone number in the man’s pocket. The victim’s brother-in-law, Tuntun Das, who works as a cook at a residence in DLF Phase-2, reached the police station and later identified the body at the mortuary in Gurgaon.Cops said they received information about the body from the government hospital in Sector 10 after the man was brought dead following the accident near Rajiv Chowk. Tuntun, in his complaint, stated that his sister called him early on Friday morning and said her husband did not return home from Gurgaon. An FIR was registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unknown driver.
