New Delhi: Nearly two weeks after a man was hit by a dump truck in Defence Colony, he succumbed to his injuries on July 18. The deceased was identified as Sameer Singh, a resident of south Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur. He worked as a vegetable vendor. The incident took place at 3:45 am on July 6.According to police, Singh was going to purchase vegetables in a rickshaw at the time of the incident. The truck driver fled the spot after the accident. Singh was seriously injured and had to have one of his arms and one of his legs amputated. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.The truck driver is still absconding. Efforts to trace him and the vehicle are underway.In another case, a man died and another man was injured after their scooter met with an accident near NH-48 in Vasant Kunj North on July 18. The deceased was identified as Onkar, a 21-year-old resident of Nilothi who worked at a private company in Gurgaon, Haryana.Police received a call about the accident around 4 am. A team of cops found a damaged scooter at the spot. Further inquiry revealed that two injured people had been taken to a nearby hospital. While Onkar was declared brought dead at the hospital, Aditya, a resident of Tilak Nagar, survived with injuries.Aditya and Onkar were friends and returning home from the office together. Onkar was driving the scooter, which probably collided head-on with some other vehicle, as the front portion of the scooter was found damaged, police said, adding further probe was underway to ascertain the sequence of events.
