Mandya: A microfinance company executive was arrested on the charge of taking minor children without the consent of their guardian by Mandya police. He was remanded in judicial custody by a local court.Ajith, a manager at the microfinance company, T Narasipura Unit, allegedly took the children, including a 7-year-old girl, from a house in Purigali village in Malavalli taluk to locate the workplace of the girl’s mother. He was booked under various charges of BNS, including kidnapping, following a complaint by the girl’s father, Naveen.The incident occurred on June 16, and following a complaint from Naveen that his daughter was taken by the executive on a bike along with a 13-year-old boy, the son of a neighbour, Belakavadi police took up a case and arrested the executive.Police said the investigation into the incident is under way, and other employees, if any, of the microfinance company would be brought to book if they’re involved. Ajith was also booked under the provisions of the Karnataka Micro Loan and Small Loan Act, 2025.Police said, Naveen’s mother, Mangalamma, took a loan of Rs 40,000 from the finance unit and delayed payment of an instalment, leading to the executive visiting the family to enquire about it. As the family moved to Purigali from T Narasipura, the executive found their location, their relative’s house, and reached the home around 11am only to find the children. He then asked about the whereabouts of their parents and took them on his bike to the workplace of their mother, Pramila. He then dropped them back to Purigali after Pramila asked him to take them back, police said. Four days later, the father lodged a police complaint accusing him of kidnap.
