Noida: A man, who allegedly sexually assaulted the five-year-old daughter of his neighbour, was arrested on Monday.After the girl recounted her ordeal, the family filed a complaint with the police, who registered a case on Sunday under sections of sexual harassment and the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. The accusedwas arrested from Sector 122.The complainant — a labourer and originally from a village in Bihar’s Gopalganj — lives with his wife and two daughters at a rented room in Noida’s Sector 113 area. His wife works as a domestic help.On Saturday, the couple went to work. Their daughter was playing in the street around 2.30pm. The accused, who was alone in the room, noticed the girl. He lured her into his room under the pretext of feeding her something. A short while later, the girl emerged crying. Another neighbour, seeing the girl crying, enquired about her well-being and the girl ran back into the house, calling out, “Amma, Amma.” The other neighbour called the girl’s father. Upon learning of this, the girl’s parents rushed to the room.When the mother asked the girl while caressing her, she told them about the neighbour’s inappropriate touching. On Saturday evening, the family took the girl to the police station, where they lodged a complaint. The girl’s father stated that he moved in only five months ago, while the accused already lived there. The family learned from other neighbours that the accused was seen hanging around the girl for several days. He would talk to her under the pretext of buying her something.
