Madikeri: Kodagu police have unravelled the suspicious death of a villager and arrested his son on charges of murder four months after the crime.Kodagu SP Ramarajan said a body was found on the banks of Cauvery River in Chikkabettahalli village under the jurisdiction of Kushalnagar Rural Police Station on March 16. During the investigation, it was learned that the deceased was Manjanna, a resident of Kudumangalore village.Manjanna was separated from his wife and children due to family problems and was living alone in a house in Kudumangalore village, the SP stated. Following his death, his wife complained to the police, raising suspicion about the death.A special investigation team comprising Chandrashekar P, DSP, Somwarpet Sub-Division; Dinesh Kumar, CPI, Kushalnagar Circle; and Ramachandra N, PSI, Kushalnagar Rural police station; was formed to probe the case.The SP stated on Saturday that the cops arrested Manjanna’s son KM Chandrashekhar. According to the IPS officer, the 28-year-old, along with his friends, allegedly murdered his father for money and property. They forcibly picked up Manjanna from his house in Kudumangaluru village in a car and took him away. When Manjanna screamed for help, they attacked him, rendering Manjanna unconscious. The accused thought he was dead and threw him into the Cauvery River flowing in Chikkabettageri village, the SP stated.
