Ahmedabad: A routine commute landed a Nana Chiloda resident in hospital with a busted knee when his motorcycle skidded on a dug-up road on Thursday. Arunsinh Bhadoria fractured his knee after falling into a pit filled with rainwater in front of his society. For months, roads in the area have been under repair or left incomplete due to ongoing infrastructure work. Residents are now demanding accountability and immediate road safety measures. The 37-year-old, a resident of Kailas Ojas Society, blames the accident on months of unregulated construction activity and civic negligence in the area. “For four to five months now, every road around our society has been dug up. Some were filled after laying water and drainage lines, but the rains caused them to sink. Other roads remain completely dug up or waterlogged,” he said.Adding to the problem are nearby construction sites where developers have excavated basements that have since filled with rainwater. “They are pumping the water straight onto the roads, creating more slush and making it impossible to drive safely,” Bhadoria added. He is not alone in his frustration. Several residents of the area say the lack of road safety and drainage planning is making life increasingly dangerous. With monsoon conditions worsening the terrain, locals are demanding urgent repairs and stricter regulation of construction waste and runoff water.
