Patna: A man died after he was hit by Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express (22348) at Barh railway station under Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) on Tuesday.According to Danapur RPF commandant Uday Singh Pawar, the incident occurred around 9am on platform number 2 when the man, whose identity has not been ascertained yet, reportedly went to the edge of the platform to spit after chewing tobacco. In the meantime the Vande Bharat arrived at the station and struck him, causing him to fall onto the platform with severe head injuries, he said.Bakhtiyarpur RPF inspector Jawahar Lal said the Barh RPF and GRP rushed to the spot and took the man to Barh sadar hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, he said.Jawahar said that the man could have suffered from hearing issues, as the train doesn’t stop at Barh railway station, and following railway protocol it might have blown the horn, which he could not hear, leading to fatal accident.GRP officials at Barh have registered a case of unnatural death (UD) and initiated further investigation into the matter. The body was later sent to a govt hospital for autopsy.
